All About LED Teeth Whitening

With more and more options for teeth whitening than ever before, one of them that does stand out from the rest, is LED teeth whitening. This is a treatment that’s not invasive and is a great option for you.

What it Is

This uses LED, which is an acronym for light emitting device, and is basically a form of light that does activate teeth whitening and its agents. The solution is basically put into a tray that fits over the teeth in the front. The light from the LED does activate this.

You can use bleach-based types as well, which are used below, or on the surface of the tooth. Non-bleach one's work just on the surface stains. The ingredients used with this do vary in strengths for the most part, and what's cool is that you can have this done in the office, or at home for your own use.

You can also consider LED treatments that are done solely by a dentist, which is much stronger. The system of this usually involves using the whitening agent, mouth trays, applicators, and then uses LED light, and this is done over a period of a few days.

The Safety of This?

Is it safe for you to do?

Well, for the most part yes. The sensitivity that happens when you get your teeth whitened is partially related to the type of whitening that you get. Sensitivity is usually based on the solution, what type of bleaching agent is used, the usage of this, and how strong with this. Remember, with sensitivity of your teeth, it varies in how this is affected, so always make sure that you are able to follow them as needed.

LED Vs. A-Home

At-home treatments are good for those who want something that they can use immediately, and so that they don’t have to come in for them. the other downside to this though, is the effectiveness.

You will not get as good of a treatment from the at-home kits alone, and for the most part, it only partially whitens it. They do work, but not to the level that LED strips and lightening treatments offer.

As for LEDs, this can definitely be really good, depending on the shade that your teeth naturally are, the whitening agent that’s used, and the duration of this. Some people just have to get one treatment and then boom, they have pearly whites. Others may require more treatments. It may be slightly more sensitive if you go this way, but again, not everyone is the same, and it can vary based on the effectiveness of this, and the state of your teeth.

Don’t Forget Dental Care

Whiter LED whitening is a wonderful option for treating your teeth if they’re a little discolored due to normal wear and tear, never forget that this isn’t just a substitute for regular dental care.

You want to always make sure that you do give yourself the best treatments possible. So, while you can have some great, white teeth, don’t think that this is a substitute for brushing, flossing, getting regular interdental cleaning, and also seeing your dentist.

Remember that LED whitening is just a way to whiten up the teeth. It does not change the fact that you do need to also look at your own personal dental care habits, and make sure that you follow them. take care of your teeth, and you won't have to come in as often for these treatments in the future, and you’ll be able to keep the teeth whiter as well.
